The bathroom door was opened just enough for Constance to peer in. Her eyes flitted around the large room, glancing briefly at the ornate wall sconces and art nouveau mirror, finally coming to rest on the man who was slowly buttoning his crisp, white shirt. He glanced at her in the mirror. The look on his face was serene; no surprise there. It was utterly impossible to sneak up on Aloysius Pendergast.
